CARER ROLES AT ILC

We have a growing ageing population in Jersey and there is plenty of work for all the local care agencies!  Although we are one of the smaller agencies, we do want to slowly grow so we would love to hear from anyone with who would like to work with us as a carer.   We welcome applicants who are experienced carers and also people who are new to this industry.

Our ideal candidate is kind, patient and practical.  As our niche is in building meaningful relationships, good communication is an essential quality, as is a having empathy and understanding of the challenges that face older people.

It’s essential that you have your own car and all applicants must be police checked.

We value and invest in our carers by providing ongoing professional training and support at all levels, and by offering great opportunities for career development.

What our carers say about working for ILC

‘I’m a mum of 4 small children. I work for ILC on a part time basis. I see the same few clients and have really enjoyed building relationships with them. ILC were so welcoming and were there every step of the way with my training.

Prior to having children I worked in childcare. After having had a long career break, I knew I wanted to work but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I had never thought about being a carer but ILC have really supported me and made sure I have all the up to date training and that I am happy with all my clients.’

I was initially a bit worried about leaving but now feel my job to be just as rewarding, you have the time to really spend with our clients, get to know about their individual needs, provide the quality of care that is needed/required and have so much satisfaction in the process.

ILC are a great team to work with and give full support to both staff and clients, our team like to treat both their clients and carers like an extended family.

I love working for ILC, everyone works well together and we all communicate everyday to make sure our clients are well looked after so it makes my job so rewarding. Each client only has positive things to say about all the staff which is lovely to hear.

I feel nothing is rushed and we have extra time to be a companion as well as a carer which is really important.’
